On the surface, it's just another school play.
But for those of us who have been at the school long enough to remember when the idea of a school production, along with a permanent site, was one of those wistful "somedays," it's a glorious affirmation of community, that tangible gift when enough throw their hats into the ring to lend time and talent resulting in a glorious evening.
I'm inspired each time I see a student on opening night having overcome shyness or lack of confidence to brave the stage for the first time. I remember with fondness these firsts as well for our more "seasoned" actors and revel in the fact it started just like this.
It's a true privilege to have added to a young person's repertoire, their cache of "who I am" expanding infinitely the possibility of "who I might one day be." And that's exactly the magic that happens the day a student adds "actor" to the list. On behalf of the cast and production team, thank you for the enthusiasm, the support and the sweet truths found only between audience and actors on a stunning evening simply because we all believed it could.
