We’re excited to bring the first-ever school Maker Faire to The Harbour School.
Maker Faire is The Greatest Show and Tell on Earth: a celebration of invention and creativity. This year students will showcase their Passion Projects at our school Maker Faire.
Students began in January by getting inspired to be a maker, researching and exploring topics at home and at school. Continuing the making process through May, students will document the process they go through using photographs, drawings, writing, videos etc. They might also decide to work on their Passion Project at home as well. They will also be spending some time reflecting on what they did, evaluating how well they worked, and thinking about what they might do differently next time.
Through Passion Projects, students at The Harbour School learn to uncover their passions, open their minds to new ideas, learn about feasibility, problem-solve, plan and organise, discover various ways to be a maker, and learn where to find information, materials, and resources to allow them to make things.
On Wednesday May 15, we will host our first official school Maker Faire. Parents are invited to come to school to see what your child and the other students have made during the term. You can even join the fun and exhibit your making skills during the school Maker Faire, see the weekly bulletin for how to sign up.
Please help us keep that passion by encouraging your child to explore their ideas, try new making skills and perhaps even join them in making. We hope that this will be just the start of your child’s journey as a lifelong maker, innovator, and inventor.
