Hugo Earnshaw-Saran, a Grade 6 student at The Harbour School, has been named an Ambassador of Integrity in the 2025 Fred Hollows Humanity Award.

Hugo was selected from over 400 nominations across Hong Kong for his outstanding leadership in launching the H.U.G.O.S. (Hands-on Understanding, Growth and Opportunity in Science) Program. Inspired by his call to action during last year’s Grade 5 Global Issues Conference (GIC), Hugo has dedicated himself to promoting diversity in STEM education by creating learning opportunities for students from all backgrounds.

As part of this initiative, he has hosted four visits for students from Li Sing Tai Hang School and one session for a visiting school from Singapore, inviting them to explore marine science firsthand at THS’ award-winning Marine Science Center. Through hands-on activities, these experiences deepen students’ understanding of marine ecosystems and promote ocean stewardship, fostering a more inclusive approach to STEM education.

We commend Hugo for his vision, compassion, and ongoing commitment to making science accessible to all. His work is an inspiring example of how young learners can become powerful agents of change.
