THS Development Team, May 2025

On 21 May 2025, The Harbour School’s Primary Debate Team was named champion of the 2025 UNSDG Debate Competition (International School Division) following the grand final at City University of Hong Kong.

This year’s competition featured 608 debaters from 47 primary schools, making up 71 teams across 143 debates.

Representing THS were Grade 5 students Hugo Earnshaw-Saran, Sameer Taher, and Nayantara Sinha, who faced Discovery Bay International School in the final. Tasked with opposing the motion “AI is good for sustainable development,” the team delivered a compelling and well-structured case that secured their victory, along with medals and a trophy for the school.

A special commendation goes to Hugo, who also served as the team’s coach, applying a student-led approach that proved successful.

Congratulations to our debate team and to organizers Henrik Hoeg and Emilie Razon for their guidance and support throughout the competition.
