Toby Kallander, Middle School Co-Teacher

Last week, The Harbour School (THS) had the immense pleasure of welcoming Jeffery Rotmeyer to our campus. His visit was a wonderful opportunity for our neurodiversity team to gain insights into his impactful charity, “Love21.”

During the visit, we proudly presented Jeffery with a donation of HK$6,000, raised during last year’s basketball tournament, “BB4AALL 23Y24.” This event was a fantastic demonstration of our THS community coming together. Parents, students, and teachers from The Harbour School all contributed to support autism awareness.

A Successful BB4AALL Tournament

The BB4AALL basketball tournament was an incredible success, featuring a range of activities that brought our community together. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant performance from our junior and senior cheer teams, adding an exciting atmosphere to the day. We also hosted a vegetarian BBQ “sausage sizzle” allowing everyone to enjoy delicious food while supporting a great cause.

The tournament included participants across different age groups, splitting the competition into two categories: Grades 6 to High School and Grades 5 to 1. This setup allowed students of all ages to showcase their skills, with teams formed by two students and one adult, the adult could be a parent or teacher.

This year, we hope to make the celebrations even bigger, building on the success of last year’s event. Make sure you look out for posters advertising this year's BB4AALL! They will be on display very soon.

Engaging Discussions and Insights

In addition to the tournament, we hosted lunchtime meet-and-greets with Noelle Sinclair from Diverse Minds, allowing our community to engage directly with her expertise. We also held an informative TIDE show featuring Noelle and Christine, which provided valuable insights into neurodiversity and its importance in our school environment.

About Love21

Love21 is dedicated to empowering the Down Syndrome and Autistic community in Hong Kong through various initiatives focused on sports, nutrition, and holistic support programs. Since launching its comprehensive nutrition program in 2021, Love21 has offered one-on-one nutritional support alongside its sports classes. Recently, they have expanded their services to include counseling support for parents, ensuring that the entire family can benefit from their resources.

At The Harbour School, we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where all students can thrive. Jeffery’s work with Love21 aligns with our mission, and we are excited to support such a vital cause.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with organizations like Love21 that share our values of inclusion and support. Together, we can continue to raise awareness and empower our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the basketball tournament and made this donation possible. Your support makes a significant difference!
