Creativity & Craftsmanship 

Paint and sip? How about wine and design?  Sign up for a spot to plan a woodworking project of your own* with our very own Mr Dean Lea or to hone your woodworking skills with a serving tray, coaster set or desktop organizer. We supply the materials and expertise and you supply the sustenance and merriment! 
*If you are making your own project, please let Dean know 2 weeks in advance to make sure the project can be done or at least begun! 
 

Tuesday

Fencing is a sport that can be enjoyed by any person of any age or sporting ability. Due to the “linear” nature of the sport, children who struggle with conventional school sports such as rugby and football often excel at fencing as it places different demands on the brain and body. ​

This fun-filled program introduces young performers to the magical world of drama through engaging games, storytelling, and role-playing. Kids will explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop essential acting skills in a supportive environment. Each session encourages teamwork and self-expression, allowing children to create their own characters and stories. With playful exercises and interactive performances, students will discover the joy of acting while making new friends. Join us for an exciting adventure where creativity knows no bounds!

The program was founded with the goals of teaching international chess to children and most importantly building children’s character through chess. Chess requires a good understanding of rules, fair competition, learning from mistakes and challenging oneself. Through this process, children will undoubtedly acquire invaluable skills sets such as developing stronger spatial reasoning, attention span, sportsmanship and confidence.

Calling all gymnasts and acrobats! Whether you want to refine your skills or explore the exciting world of movement for the first time, our specialised program combines fundamentals of gymnastics, acrobatics, capoeira, and callisthenics to enhance strength, flexibility and coordination for JG1-G4 students.

Saturday

Develop swimming proficiency for students 12+ from Adv Beginner to Intermediate+ with this bilingual swim course taught in Mandarin and English. This course is on a Saturday. Students will find their way to and from the pool to particiapte and receive their certificate of proficiency from HKPCA.

Little Kitchen Crew is a fun, hands‑on cooking in Chinese so all Mandarin learners with different speaking ability can be immersed in a fun cultural and social activity while rolling up their sleeves and making food. Guided by a friendly chef, students learn more than just recipes.Each session invites kids to chop, mix, and taste their way through exciting dishes while learning about healthy choices, kitchen safety, and good table manners. It’s not just about cooking — it’s about confidence, curiosity, and connection.

Elevate your swimming with the THS Swimming Team! Our Pre-Competitive and Competitive training program, led by expert coaches from HKPCA Swimming, is open to swimmers of any age who can complete 50 meters of any two strokes. Over nine Saturday sessions from 11 AM to 1 PM, athletes will refine their technique, build endurance, and develop race-day skills in a supportive team environment. We are aiming to bring our THS swimmers to the ISSFHK.

Monday

In this playful and hands-on course, young ocean lovers will become real marine caretakers as they build their own small aquarium from start to finish. Each week, children will add new elements — sand, rocks, invertebrates, corals, and finally fish — while discovering how every organism helps keep the ocean ecosystem in balance.

The Life Beyond School Virtual Family Workshop is a 60-minute session for parents and children focusing on teamwork, listening, and impactful speaking. It includes an optional parent-only prep session offering scripts and rituals to reinforce learning at home. The HKD 1,180 fee covers both sessions and digital take-home tools designed for long-term skill development. 

April -May

Shake off the school week with a special Friday afternoon "Unbirthday" party! We will be focusing on a creative “unbirthday” way to celebrate any special day- whether it’s an end-of the year class social, an actual birthday or mega play date to unwind. Miss Lisa leads a joyful session using various art materials, including air-dry clay, 3D models, and various painting materials and methods. Reserve this special 2-hour session to enjoy a spectacularly messy and wholesome time creating for the love of fun and celebration.

Wednesday 

For curious minds ready to dive deeper, this course transforms students into true Ocean Explorers.Through real scientific methods, art, and experimentation, children will uncover the diversity of marine life — from microscopic plankton to colorful reef fish.
Each session brings a new discovery: using microscopes, dissecting a squid, learning Gyotaku (Japanese fish printing), and exploring how animals adapt to their environments. We are going on local field trips, and even going with the school's little dinghy, the White Dolphin, on fishing sessions.

Thursday

The Tech Know Wise team becomes a behind the scenes operational crew, dealing with brainstorming, designing, operating and de-rigging the Lighting, Audio and Projection content and systems for productions. Students will acquire technical knowledge and operational skill in all areas of entertainment technology.
